Tenant Died & Partner Wants Deposit- Lease Assumed by Son...

One of our tenants recently died...she had an original lease from 2011 that expired and moved to month-to-month from 2012 until we bought the property in 2017...when we put a new lease in place. Her boyfriend was on the 2011 lease, but not the 2017 lease. He has requested a refund of his deposit from the 2011 lease...

I was able to locate the original lease and there is evidence of a $600 deposit and he is on the lease with his now dead girlfriend. No lease deposit funds transferred at the time of sale.

Any thoughts on this situation??? Is he due a refund??
