1031 exchange: land contracts?
Can you do a 1031 exchange into a property you are buying through a land contract? I am asking this because (as I understand it so far) you do not actually take title to the property with a land contract until the note is paid off. By my logic that seems to make it not workable for a 1031 exchange- but it would be nice if my logic were wrong (and it wouldn't be the first time...) Land contracts are not common in my area, but they seem to be popular in other parts of the country. any tips?
