Career Switch into CRE

I'm looking to switch my career path into CRE. It seems an analyst role is the baseline entry position into CRE so I've been taking multiple courses and earning certifications in financial modeling (pro formas, equity waterfalls, development, etc). I'm also revamping my resume/cover letter/LinkedIn etc so I can show up on industry recruiter's grid. Is there anything else that someone can suggest to get my name out there? I'm looking for all types of networking events but it doesn't seem like there's much in my area (San Diego). I could be wrong and just not looking in the right areas.

Looking for any advice or suggestions to get out there that could help me get my name out there.  Thank you!

@Mark Baldwin there is so much opportunity in San Diego, I recommend you start with a local REIA and talk to people. Say you'll work for free on something, even if it's something easy and dumb. Get your foot in the door and most importantly stop saying things like "...it doesn't seem like there's much in my area (San Diego)"

The county of San Diego has 3.3 million people. Keep trying and change up your perspective.
