Taking The CCIM Course (Certified Commercial Investment Member)
Background: Capital Markets broker with Avison Young in Raleigh focusing transactions on office and retail. Decided during the pandemic that I was going to use the opportunity to sharpen skills with education. My college degree is in accounting and after a couple years as an auditor I decided to jump into real estate as a broker.
CCIM 101 - Financial Analysis (July 2020): Online course was taken over 2 weeks and I passed the test on August 1st. Took the class with Jeremey Cryier and would recommend him as an instructor. Course was certainly a good amount of information - I imagine the 1 week in person course is really straining. The course really gave me a good understanding of how to underwrite a deal from cash perspective, debt perspective, tax perspective and more. Having a background in accounting helped me absorb the material at the rate its given at.
CCIM 104 (September 2020): Stay tuned
@David Zipparo I have completed all CCIM educational requirements with the exception of 102 which I will be taking in September. I went from 101 to Negotiations to 104 to 103 and in the midst of that did the supplemental courses. Would love to discuss the content.
@Brett Peters, would be glad to discuss - a lot of great information in the classes. Sent you a DM.
Realized last week I had to take the negotiations course as a prerequisite for CCIM 104 and went into the office this weekend and knocked it out before the 104 class starts today, will keep everyone in the loop!
I finished my CCIM designation last October- well worth it. 104 was the best course in my opinion. I did everything online.
I am interested in taking in Alabama how I go about process?
OOC - What's the cost? I've seen the material and besides the certs, not seeing the need for class time. I hear you can challenge by taking the tests?

Congratulations! Yes, 104 is very informative of how to apply concepts from 101. You were able to take all classes and final exam online? I thought one class had to be taken in person and the final exam was an in person test - I could be wrong

The four core classes (101-104) are about $1,800 each. Negotiations is $450. There is a prep day before the final exam if you would like that is about $800. Not sure the cost of final exam. I feel that the course material and people you meet are worthwhile.
It was awhile ago, so maybe the rules have changed. I took the 101 exam in person and all the other classes and final exams for each class was online except for the final exam. The 2 day cram session was definitely worth it since there is a LOT of information covered across the 4 classes.
@David Zipparo I might have been In your 104 class but missed the deadline! Started with 101 5 years ago 🤦♀️. Taking the excel analysis self paced this month as a refresher then plan to jump back in with 104:)
Finding it super useful as I am analyzing my own deals.
@Ali Horbach Yes, the spreadsheets they provide are very helpful. I am taking the test next week and will keep you posted on how it goes! Best of luck in your CCIM journey!
@Ali Horbach, yes we may have been! Keep with it, hope to see you pinned one day!
I am currently in the CCIM 102 course, Market Analysis. Should anyone have questions about the general content I would be happy to answer or discuss.
