Bought Foreclosure Property that is Occupied

Viktor Ziv
Posted

Hi All,

I just bought my first foreclosure property that is occupied. Any thoughts on how to approach the current occupants? It looks like the property was rented (not sure) since it is a duplex and I would prefer to keep the tenants if we find an agreement. I talked to my real estate lawyer and she said to go ring the bell introduce myself and see what they say. Any thoughts or suggestions is much appreciated.

You probably want to serve them eviction papers because it's unlikely they've been making rent payment through the foreclosure process - and won't start now.
