Ways to invest in a multifamily as first investment with little cash?

Greetings Biggerpocket folks, this is my first official post!

I don't have a lot of money to invest nor do I think the amount I have would even get a traditional lender to raise his/her head and make eye contact with me. That being said what are different strategies in which I could start an endeavor like this.  Also I'd love to hear personal stories of how you started your venture into multifamily property.

I'm aware of hard money lenders and I'm not sure thats a path that would be advisable as a beginner, but if you have any input on this I'm all ears.  I'm also aware of private lenders but I can's say I personally know any or know where I would find these individuals and if I did why would they want to do business with me?

Thanks for the time!

Here's a link to my success story where I bought a 12 unit complex for less than $1500 out of pocket. It has a link in it explaining in detail my normal process for buying.
