I am interested in this aspect of REI. Have no idea where to start can someone point me in the right direction. I have a great area with lots of new jobs coming where land is fairly cheap. I am looking to invest in North Carolina. Help please!!

@Terrance Clark if you really want a good foundation get the book titled  Real Estate Development workbook and manual by Zuckerman. This will give you a high level understanding on every step through the process and give you a good start. Then you can start asking specific questions on points of interest.

Also see if you can take an experienced developer to lunch and pick their brain AFTER you've read this book so that you have an idea of what they're talking about.
