Anyone else hate flat doors and ranch trim?

I don’t like them. Flat doors are usually the first thing I notice (unless there is still shiny brass) and I usually get a count of how many perfectly good doors I am about to donate right away. I toss ranch trim too.

I don’t upgrade by much. Just go to a 6 panels and 3-1/4” colonial and try to be consistent.

I, at least, am convinced it’s an upgrade and supports higher rents.

Please tell me if you agree, disagree, or think I shouldn’t be giving it any thought.

I’ve also started trying 2-1/4 casing on top of 1x4 everywhere (doors/windows/bases) or 1x6 on the base and painted white for a cheap, but big looking trim. Any thoughts or experience?

I would be shocked if a renter would notice and pay more for such a thing.

Is using casing on top of 1x4 cheaper than using MDF base and case? I like 6 inch MDF eased edge base.

For me it depends on the style of the property I think a 6 panel door looks funny on a mid-century ranch.
