General Contractor created Fake Contract and filed Mechanic Lien

I am in LA County and hired a Licensed GC to work on a remodel project (1066 sq ft home and All Permits were taken). His estimate for labor was $30,000.

He collected $23,000 and walked away after 3 weeks. He did not follow plans and later city asked us to redo all the work again. The Redo is now costing me $120,000

I complained to CSLB, so he forged my signature to create a new contract for $350,000 and filed a mechanics lien for $56,000 (stating that he completed 20% of work. and he is owed a balance of $56,000)

He used HANDLE App to file mechanics lien. His lawyer friend is threatening to file a lawsuit.

I have the original written contract, permits and proof of payments. I went to police but they won't complaint, as it is a civil matter.

This is more like extortion.

Go to ROC   Register of Contractors in your state.   File a complaint with them.

Not sure what a CSLB is?

My next step would be to spend the $500 about to have a hour consult with a Real Estate attorney and he may include a very firm letter to your GC, about the mess your GC is in.

Police just keep the peace!!!

Sorry man, Even Contractors are not straight shooters!
