As we all know business is about growing, but a lot of business die from eating too much than starving. For those who have scaled to a company that is fully operational and scaled to the level you have desired how did you avoid scaling too fast? What are the things that you must have before you scale a business?

its always that hard balance of when to bring on people - you do not want to do it too early and you do not want to do it too late.

I was part of a companythat was buying companies back in 2008 and many companies back then scaled way to fast and ended up going broke from cash flow issues. What we saw in many instances were:

1. They did not have the right people to grow with the company. They promoted people who had no training or mentorship to move up

2. Their systems were not setup to scale.

3. They would go cheap on areas that were most important - like accounting

Just some of the insights from the past.
