Buying property with existing tenants

Hello,

I am purchasing a duplex with existing tenants. Their lease expires in October 2016 and January 2017. I understand that I need to honor their leases, do I need to sign paperwork to assign the leases to me? -I am not sure how this process works?

Would also appreciate any tips with buying a property with existing tenants. Thank!!! -Joe
