I am planning to rent my primary residence out when I move to get started in REI but I have a pool. Can anyone share their experience or opinions about renting out homes with an in ground pool? Thanks!

Make sure you have a pool maintenance company service your pool. Tenants can't be counted on to take care of things.

My impression is that pools are slightly more popular with renters than with owners. Families with toddlers tend to avoid pools.

Take safety precautions to prevent accidental drownings and pool related accidents, such as establishing rules for use in your rental agreement, making sure it has a fence with a gate that prevents children from entering the pool area on their own, and requiring the tenant to have renter's insurance.
