I am just watching the movie “the money pit” and I was wondering if there are other movies with a story line about real estate

Most shows cut corners on the math but Income Property is the absolute worth. Their logic is get $800 a month in rent and consider that a 100% reduction off the mortgage payment. No regard for repairs, vacancy, taxes, etc.

My favorite would be The Money Pit....

Thanks for recommending the Queen of Versailles. I watched it. What a horrible family! I would want absolutely nothing to do with them. They seem like wealthy white trash and then you find out that it’s all a house of cards ready to topple over. They’re no different from the average American family living WAY beyond their means. For those of you who haven’t seen it, it’s a documentary about a middle aged gold digger, Jackie, with way too much plastic surgery who’s married to an elderly workaholic crabass, David. For some reason, they have eight kids under age 12 (even thought he’s about 75 years old) and he has six grown kids from two previous wives. The kids all hate him. His oldest son has no relationship with him, other than work. David has no personality and does nothing except work and blame everyone else for his problems. He talks business on the phone while watching his son’s baseball game. Even at Christmas, he’s miserable and talking about banks and loans. Jackie is a total dingbat that spends tons of money on material things. She’s basically a hoarder. When she’s not taking a stretch limo to McDonalds to stuff her face with french fries, she parades around dressed like a prostitute and talking about her glory days when she was a model. I’m curious as to how she got those bruises that she was sporting at the Christmas party. She had kind of a Courtney Love thing going on. There were some things that really surprised me. As soon as they had to lay off most of the housekeepers and nannies, their home turned into a house o’ skank. There was dog poop everywhere and the place was a mess. I wonder how the kids reacted to their main caregiver’s (not mom and dad) disappearing one day. The limo driver talked about how he used to have a net worth of 3.5 million and now he’s broke. When the family had to fly commercial, the kids asked, “Why are all of these people on our plane?” Jackie went to rent a car and asked what the driver’s name was. As if! I think if Dave Ramsey sat down with these people, he would slap them sideways when they talked about how much debt they have. I’m glad I had normal parents that spent time with me. We didn’t have a limo or private jet (or cable tv or air conditioning), but we were happy. I think everyone with lots of debt and/or adjustable rate loans should watch this movie.

Not to mention that "Income Property" is more like "how to turn your total loser property into less of a loser" ...

"Margin Call" is a great one. It was about the collapse that happened back in 2008 involving wall st ect... Great real estate movie GM

Glengarry Glen Ross. I'm surprised no one has mentioned it yet. A film about a handful of salesman and the unethical actions they take to sell real estate in order to save their jobs.

Great thread . . . the only one that comes to mind is The Super -- what a TERRIBLE movie! I need to catch up with some of the others above. Any other suggestions? There must be a ton of them!

"Pacific Heights" - every wannabe landlord - and in fact every practicing landlord as well - should watch this one.
