Do You Submit a Letter of Intent with a Bank REO offers?

Hey everyone,

I'm submitting an offer to a local bank today on a small multifamily property, and I'm curious if anyone has had success (or an opinion on) submitting a "letter of intent" with an offer to make it more "personal." Obviously with a large bank, this is pointless, but this is a very small local bank.

So my theory is that including a nice letter, (with maybe my wife and my picture in the header or footer,) might persuade someone to accept a lower offer?

Thoughts? Suggestions? Am I just dreaming?

Thanks in advance!

If it's a local bank, why not go introduce yourself to the asset manager, let him know what you do for a living, and ask what he has available (in addition to the property you're interested in)? I've done this, and it kicked off a really good relationship with that bank.
