Hello,

What are the best investor meetups in San Diego?

Virtual or in person.

Thank you in advance for all your suggestions!

Depends what you are looking for.   Look at Meetup.com and enter real estate.  BP on my Dashboard has localish Meetups (includes LA area).

  • Perhaps the biggest is sdcia. I have not gone to many, but they have some good ones. Just before Covid, I went to one on ADUs that was the best meetup I have gone to in around 2 years. It had CA sanator WienKowski (author of some of the ADU bills) and Greg Nickless from HCD (basically enforces the ADU regulations). I could not think of two more appropriate presenters and there were some other presenters.
  • I have gone to quite a few beer and deals (on BP).  Pre-Covid they had a North County location and a more central San Diego location.  I have gone to both and found them similar.  I find it is mostly low experience/inexperience investors. Still it is nice to meet other investors.
  • There used to be an outstanding BP one that I highly recommended, but the group that put them on has not done one in quite a while now.  They are all too successful and busy to find the time.  They are some of the more knowledgeable RE investors in San Diego.
  • The one I have gone to most is Private Lending Masters (it is on Meetup).  It is my most attended because it is convenient for me.  But the person who runs it has a wide range of experience and schedules some pretty good presenters.  She currently has it virtual.  Plus she is a friend, so ...

Basically there are many meetups and they all offer something for someone.  You need to determine which ones are right for you.  But you can search on BP and Meetup to get a long list of meetups.  Going to any of them will start your RE networking and can only help.  You never know when a network contact will pay dividends.  Similar, you never know when a presentation will provide that enlightening nugget of information that propels you to the next level.

Good luck
