FHA vs conventional owner occupied MFR question..

Hi BP - We're putting an offer in on a 3 family house - will be owner occupying. We want to put 10% down with a conventional loan, and the lender we spoke with said we couldn't get conventional with less than 20% because there are 3 units, so would need to do FHA. We'd rather have conventional financing than FHA if possible though. Is this true? Thank you!

I think you will have to go FHA without the 20% down payment. @Chris Mason or @Upen Patel would know for sure.

Good news is FHA just dropped the mortgage insurance premiums 25 basis points.
