A mortgage Co I'm dealing with asked me to sign the above mentioned form. That's new to me. It says " This letter is to certify that ............ has 100% access to our joint account #.... " In the past I have provided the usual bank statements but I don't remember being asked to give access to my funds. I would like your input on this. Is this something new and legit or is this " Peoples Mortgage Company trying to take me to the cleaners ? ( Closing day is next Thursday so I'm in a hurry to send all docs needed ) Thanks in advance for your help.

Sometimes you can be listed on an account that really isn't yours. I had a joint account with my grandma before she passed away. But it was really her money. I was on it so I could write a check for her if needed. And, toward the end and afterwards, it was. So, I would never have included that in any asset statement, nor submitted that to a lender. From what you describe, it seems like one of the bank statement you submitted must have been a joint account with someone who isn't on the loan application. Sounds like they're trying to verify the money in that joint account is really yours.
