Homeowner paying non homeowner taxes
Hi all,
I had a quick question that is probably simple.
I bought my personal residence in march of 2017 and I purchased it from another investor. He was not currently living in the home so he was paying higher taxes. I have been paying the same amount as him even though I've been living in the property since day 1. Is there any of the overage that I can get back on my taxes?

@Aaron Millis - some local governments provide a "homestead" exemption. But to qualify you have to go to your local tax assessors office and provide proof that you live there. Proof is usually a copy of your driver's license showing that address, a utility bill, etc.
I don't know your local area, but I would call the tax assessors office and ask if they do this and what you need to do to have it applied.
