Hi Everyone,
Anyone have any recommendations for a good CPA in the Northern Virginia area that works well with real estate investors? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks for the help,

@Solomon Tadesse I would highly recommend Daniel J Bender at PBMares, with offices in Northern Virginia. He works with a few of our investor-clients and is very comfortable with real estate accounting.

Thank you Keith for your quick reply. I was recommended PBMares by other member before my posting. However, they are booked until April 15 and they ask me to request an extension.
I want to do my taxes before the deadline if possible. Do you know another CPA in the area?

Are you open to working with accountant/CPA outside of Northern Virginia?
You open yourself to more options if you do so. There are many qualified accountants on this message board who are capable of being of assistance.

I wonder why no CPA consider moving to Washington metropolitan area with all this demand.
Yes, I have no choice other than working with remote CPA and I'm discussing with one of them who contacted me through personal message. However, it's a bit pricey for beginner like me with only one property in my portfolio.
Do you recommend a reasonable CPA?

What is reasonable? CPA’s need to make a living too. A good real estate CPA will will save you more than their fees.

@Solomon Tadesse I highly recommend Jeff Stoller from Goodwich Stoller and Associates. He is in Catonsville MD but accepts clients out of the area He is certainly close enough to you that you can make the occasional drive.
It is short notice, but he may be able to help you assuming you are OK with him filing an extension. He files an extension for me every year. So that is common and not a red flag. I feel he is reasonably priced.

This tread is only to people who bring solutions to the table not for post counts.

It was serious question, what might seem expensive to one, might be reasonable to another. No point in me making a recommendation if it turns out that u think it is too expensive. Many people lose far more in tax savings than the fee of a good CPA because they think they can do their taxes themselve.

@Randy Bloch : Now I got your point. It's expensive, so it must be good. Thank you for the lesson.

@Solomon Tadesse - I think what @Randy Bloch was saying is that it is not because it is expensive that it is good, it's that because they provide value to their client they charge a premium price. Also, I assume you're just starting out which means if you have only one or two rental properties there is no economies of scale for the fees.. As you add more properties to your porftolio, a good CPA will provide you a lower per unit fee.
Hope this helps and remember you get what you pay for.

@Cody Z. Almost what I was trying to say.....I would not say premium....was just saying they bring value that justify the expense. Most people think they can't afford a CPA... I think most people cannot afford not to have a CPA.
