Dear Taxpayer, . . . . . . and you know that whatever follows can't be good!

Eight of our houses were reassessed this year. 10% increase across the board, except for this one:

27% increase! Yowza! That hits you where it hurts. I really can't complain, though. Real estate taxes are still pretty low. We'll pay less than $800/year on this one after the increase.

We did dispute the taxes on one house that we bought this April for $51k. We thought the taxes were pretty high at closing, and had intended to ask about them. It was one of those that increased 10% and they had the new appraisal at $109k! Hubby called the assessor and had a nice chat with her. She found several mistakes in the file and changed the assessment to $59k. Yes!
