Contractor - general liability insurance

The contractor I hired has commercial general liability insurance. Does that cover the contractor running off with my money and no work was performed. I gave him a check to start the labor as well as a check for the material he was providing.
@Robyn Gersh Nope, no standard insurance I know of covers that. Depending on state you are in, and details of your contract, there MAY be state funds that may help, after you have followed documented steps. Find a construction lawyer and start the process (if the amount of $ makes sence. If he is state certified with a license, then first check with the professional state Dept for help. Document, document, document.
