If you've hung a "for rent" sign, then you're already in the outdoor advertisement industry. Why not explore your full potential like a Next Generation Landlord?

Check out my guest post:

Make Extra Money Selling Ad Space at Your Rental

In this post, I recommend you:

1 - Take Inventory of the highly visible parts of your property

2 - Identify which areas are visible to a large number of people

3  - Think about your favorite non profit group. What fundraiser are they trying to promote?

4 - Be award of any political organizations that want to get their message out

5 - Put it all together and make a profit selling ad space!

It's your asset. You can be a savvy steward or stick to tradition. It's your call.

Al,

Our properties are in the core of the City, some on the edge of the historical district, and signage by-laws are quite restrictive  (even when it comes to placing For Rent / À Louer signs/banners), making the billboard option unavailable ... despite having one property on a fairly busy corner.

That said, Canada Post is planning to cease door-to-door mail delivery and turn to neighbourhood superboxes as a means of cutting costs.  I have been in communication with them about one of our student houses which is on a corner in the heart of Universityville and has a nice length of side yard which could host the neighbourhood's superbox and a second which is halfway down a long hill in the same neighbourhood.  They have put our corner property on a short list,  As much as I will hate to loose door-to-door delivery, if it is inevitable, they may as well lease 250 - 350 ft^2 of space from me.
