Which Real Estate Class Should I take?

Paul Liu
Posted

I'm taking classes to attain my real estate sales agent license, so that I can have more control in my real estate investing goals (e.g. like having access to the MLS). Right now I'm taking online classes in Real Estate Practices and Real Estate Principles at my local community college. There is also one other course I am required to take on the following list, and I was wondering which class should I take that is best for my goal/objective in becoming a successful real estate investor and managing rental properties, for passive income, from my real estate investment properties.

One course from the following list:

  1. Real Estate Appraisal
  2. Property Management
  3. Real Estate Finance
  4. Real Estate Economics
  5. Legal Aspects of Real Estate
  6. Real Estate Office Administration
  7. General Accounting
  8. Business Law
  9. Escrows
  10. Mortgage Loan Brokering and Lending
  11. Computer Applications in Real Estate
  12. Common Interest Developments

I would recommend Real Estate Finance, as an investor you will be dealing with transactions involving hundreds of thousands of dollars. The more comfortable you are with understanding the cost of capital and how to deploy it in the most intelligent and cost effective manner the quicker you will be able to scale. With more non-traditional financing options coming to market seemingly every day, being able to navigate the fine print will save you thousands in the long run.
