Moved into Apartment and everything was broken

Location: Los Angeles Date moved in: Jan 19 Date everything was repaired: Feb 6 Things broken: Water Heater, Central Heating, Garbage disposal, stove & fire place etc. Question: Do we have to pay rent for the days these things were broken? More detail: did a walk through when signing the lease and everything appeared to be fine. Landlord said everything was good, we just had to call the electricity & the gas companies and start new service. These services got turned on and these things I listed above did not work. The gas and electricity companies came out and said we had to get our landlord to fix these things. We spent the next 2 weeks with mechanics and plumbers in and out of our apartment trying to fix our stuff. (They said the water heater and central heating were installed illegally) They finally fixed the central heating in the beginning of feb and got a new water heater on February 6th. (We still have problems with it but works 90%) Do we have to pay rent in full? Note: We have email documentation of us telling them everything was broken

You don't have to pay as long as you don't mind getting evicted
