Received notice for code enforcement inspection

Hello,

We have a SFH that received a notice from the city (Daly City, CA), that they're going to send an inspector to ensure it isn't violating any California Building Codes.

We purchased it about 25 years ago and it contained (and still contains) an illegal in-law.

This is my only investment property and first time getting a notice like this. So I was wondering if others have been in a similar situation or what we should do in advance of the inspection.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Tony

So basically the inspection is probably to make sure the fire alarms and overall condition of exterior and interior of building are up to standard of living conditions it should be.

As far as the illegal in-law apartment,, are you renting that out.. extra...

In MN some have just been asked to remove the kitchen appliances out of that in-law type secondary setting and aren't able to rent it out.. unless it's homestead and they have immediate family member living there..
