Reasonable Accommodation request

In California.  Tenant of 2 years was discovered to have a dog in a no-pets rental.

Tenant was mailed a notice to remove the animal. In response, they say they will submit docs for reasonable accommodation.

How long would you wait for the documentation, or should landlord proceed with 3-day notice to cure or quit?

If it is an ESA, I would wait (maybe a week?) before sending a notice to cure. Better to be safe than sorry and not break any Fair Housing laws. Just my opinion!
