Security Deposit refund in CA - Interest or No?

When refunding a tenant's security deposit are landlords required by CA law to add to the initial security deposit amount any accumulated interest? Thanks!

California law does not require you pay interest on the security deposit, EXCEPT in a few markets where required by local rent control ordinances (like in Los Angeles).
