First triplex need some advice

Memi Lee
Posted

Hi everyone I just purchased my first triplex in Ohio, I'm needing to find out if I can collect past due rents since I just acquired the property Feb 1st. Two of the three are behind. In addition where to find new leasing agreement. Also the tenants have asked about their security deposit which the previous owner denies having. what's the best way to handle these situations.

Thanks in advance.

@Memi Lee IF the tenants paid security deposits that money should have been turned over to you at closing. On the other hand if you collect past due rents from prior to your ownership of the property that money should be paid to the prior owner by you. So you may have some tit for tat! All the best!
