We're located in Great Barrington, MA and we are rookies getting into REI. We've been in Solar for the last 20 years and are just getting started in the rental market long term and maybe short term. We're flexible. We are thinking long distance out of state maybe Saratoga Springs, Lake George. Possibly Fort Collins, CO

Before focusing on out-of-state options, you may want to survey your backyard a bit. There are a lot of local meetups in and around you. @Andrew Freed is a good person to get in touch with about that as he is a MA multifamily investor who does a lot of meetups.

STR is a tough way to start right now because in most markets the table stakes to be competitive are very high.
