Hello all. Sarah Fowler here from Lexington, KY. I am a newly licensed Realtor and my husband works in construction. We have been talking for a while about getting into real estate investing and I'm excited to finally join this site and start actively pursuing financial freedom. We started listening to the podcasts a few months back and I look forward to soaking up as much knowledge as possible. We also hope to start buying some rental properties in the coming year.

Thanks everyone for the welcome and for the advice. Great tips @Elizabeth Colegrove I feel that getting my license is a great step towards my future of real estate investing. I will say the actual course really just prepares you to pass the test - it focuses on real estate law and your local laws. Getting out in the field is the best way to learn market trends, prices, inventory etc. You may be able to gain this knowledge by constantly looking at what's on the market or buddying up with a real estate agent, rather than going through the process of getting licensed. It is fairly expensive to take the courses, tests, and join your local board. If you do decide to take the course, I'm sure your area has several online options which make it easy to do the lessons at your own pace in your own time (that's what I did) or there will also be in-person classes. If you have any other questions I'd be happy to answer them!
