Investing in Cash Flow properties in Jackson, MS

Hello, I am new to BiggerPockets and I am looking into investing cash flow properties in the my hometown of Jackson, MS.  Specifically in Single Family Residenital homes.  I currently live in Madison, AL.

First, I wanted to know if it is profitable in this area when dealing with rentals and tenants from a distance. There are several Tax Forfeited Properties in there and does any one have any experience in dealing with those types of properties?
