Breaking into the REI world from NY

I am currently self employed and have always had REI in the background. I believe I've sat on it to long and its time to make some moves. I'm in the Long Island, NY area and looking to get into the buy and hold field so that I can enjoy a nice passive income. For now thats my nich. Im going into this with my girlfriend who seems as excited as me. Looking to network ASAP to help me/us get into this sonner then later. Hope to make a lot of moves and connections through BP.
