New member in persuit of apartment complex

I've wanted to own apartments or duplexes for a while, and I'm at a place financially where I can afford to do so. In addition to owning and holding, I would also like to flip houses for supplimental income while I'm not traveling for my welding business. 

My main goal is to get 80-100k passive income in the next 5 years. 

I'm currently looking to buy a 6 unit apartment building (my first purchase), so I would greatly appreciate any insight and wisdom from seasoned investors! Any and all questions/suggestions are welcome!
