This is our year to get started.  My wife and I have been interested in real estate since moving to Charlotte back in 2004.  But kids, jobs, and life got in the way and we never pursued it.  Well, this past year my mother had to go to the nursing home and now we have the burden of providing for her stay which can be very expensive.  in addition to that, I've been in the same job since moving here and I'm just tired of it and want to do something different.

So our "why" is two fold.

1. Develop an income to help support an extended stay for my mother.

2. Provide for a change of career that can sustain us financially.

Luckily, we will have some funds from my mothers estate to get started so that will make the financial part of it a little easier.  On the other hand, we have next to nothing in the way of experience.

After doing some talking and researching, our main area of interest to get started will be retail flips.
