Hey ya'll,

I recently joined Bigger Pockets after reading various articles/books from Brandon Turner and the other great writers/doers at the site. I'm relatively new to Real Estate Investing, but am eager to begin. Currently, in the capital accumulation and learning phase - my goal is to close on 1 deal by the end of 2018.

My background is in finance/accounting, entrepreneurship, and technology. I've worked as a commercial underwriter for over 2 years (2013-2015) and co-founded my own software as a service company in 2015. I definitely consider myself someone who follows through, and I intend to do the same thing with real estate.

My basic goals are to augment my monthly income by $10K/month within the next 10 years. I will start with single family homes and then move onto multi-family. I hope to keep my full-time job as a product manager while I do this. Of course, this is going to take incredible persistence, patience, and diligence, but I am certain that with all three characteristics (along with some good luck), I'll be able to make it. I want to own my time and dedicate towards others, such as my family, friends, and community and am committed to this journey.

It's great to be part of this community, and I hope to contribute in any way I can. If you'd like to connect or contact me, please don't hesitate by clicking on my profile.

Cheers!

Chirag

@Chirag Shah Welcome to BP. You have a great background for RE investing and you have a realistic goal with your laser focus. You will be successful. Being in Austin, you know real estate is going thru the roof. A lot of first time RE investors focus on their first deal with a SFR. Many, because they are leaving their current home to go to another and decide for whatever reason to rent their existing home vs selling it. I hope that isn't you.

You want to get into RE investing but you say you want to start with SFR. Why? Especially in Austin, if you are going to focus on income producing RE to acquire 10k in monthly income in 10 years, you will get there easier with multifamily. You might want to focus on duplexes initially. They will cash flow better and do it with less risk compared to SFR. I'm a big duplex fan. If you want to do coffee sometime, I'm up for it, but I will let you buy! LOL. Welcome.
