Fort Worth, Texas - New Investor - Buy and Hold

Hello all,

I'm Eric and I'm trying to get involved in real estate here in the Fort Worth area.  My father is a general contractor back in Kansas and I grew up working with him some, but only really seeing a glance of what building, remodeling, and property managing was like.  My wife and I have been discussing this avenue of investing for some time and we finally have started doing some serious reading, listening to audiobooks, and watching podcasts, etc. to learn what we can.

At this point I'm financially ready to dive in, but I feel like the BRRR strategy is what I want to pursue and I'm not quite up to snuff on estimating remodeling costs. That's next on my agenda, but I'm trying to follow some of the strategies I've learned from Brandon Turner and Scott Trench in the meantime to practice with the tools on here like the calculators. I just don't want to jump in too soon and get a poor return on investment because I WAY underestimated remodeling work.

If anyone has any recommendations or suggestions on General Contractors, handymen, and/or banking/lending options for the Fort Worth area, I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm very eager to get the ball rolling, but it's definitely a bit overwhelming.  One of my favorite sayings holds true for real estate, "you don't know what you don't know."  My learning curve has been pretty steep, but I'm starting to notice some repetition in my resources, which is comforting finding that not all of the information seems foreign any longer.

That's all for now, I look forward to getting to get connected with some of you and hopefully we can all help each other on our paths.
