New to Real Estate from Germantown, MD

Good evening! My name is David and I was born and raised in New Orleans, LA but have resided in Germantown, MD the past 12 years. My wife and I currently own our home and I'm looking to learn about real estate as a way to possibly achieve financial freedom, and then pass this knowledge to my 2 very young sons; 6 years and 17 months.

To begin my journey I joined BiggerPockets, checked out two books from the library; Idiot's Guide to Flipping Houses by Lenihan and Smith and The ABC's of Real Estate Investing by McElroy and purchased a book, FLIP: How To Find, Fix and Sell Houses For Profit by Villani and Davis. So far I started reading the idiots guide and listening to The Millionaire Real Estate Investor by Gary Keller on youtube when I have time.

I believe after reading the books, my next step will be to get my real estate license for MD and then the surrounding areas. After I get my license and have done more reading and feel I have the bare minimum to bring to the table, I'll seek out a mentor and start building my team.

Thanks for your time and I hope you all have a good night and a great week.

Welcome to BP @David Edwards.  Why do you feel the necessity to get your license in order to invest? I generally advise that you should be doing about 5 deals per year before it is worth it in both cost and liability to get your license.
