Hello everyone my name is Joseph and I am from New York City and I'm new to Real Estate investing. I'm looking to learn and connect with people about acquiring rental properties in the Ohio or Georgia market to start. I've been reading and listening to a lot of great information over the past year and I'm looking to complete my first deal before the end of the year.

Welcome to BP @Joseph A. ! It's great that you are learning a lot. How did you select Ohio and Georgia as your markets to target? I invest out-of-state as well and am just outside NYC in northern NJ.

I have family in both states so I use them to let me know about the neighborhoods I should invest in and the ones I should avoid. Where do you invest and do you have any tips for a first time investor.

Welcome aboard! There's tons of great info on here! Don't forget to check out the live podcasts each week! You'll learn a lot from those as well!

Thanks, I just started listening to the podcast a week ago.

Welcome, BP is worth spending a lot of time browsing. I live in New York too, a little more upstate but have worked and am planning on moving actually down to New Rochelle at some point. I'll send you a connection request, stay in touch.

Thank you, yes I am in NYC at least 5 days a week

@Joseph A. that's great that you have family to help you and give you tips! I invest in Alabama, Indiana and Mississippi. If I can give any advice to you, it's to keep learning and double-check everything possible until you become an expert in your area. Good luck and keep us posted!

@Joseph A. the best advice I can give you, which it seems like you already know, and that is real estate is bigger than you backyard.  Also when considering away markets, I would suggest building your own team instead of totally relying on others. If not possible then do your due diligence on any operators in your market of choice. All the best!!
