Newbie Investor- San Francisco Bay Area

Hello BP community!

I’m Torre, a newbie rental investor from the East Bay Area.  I’m currently looking to work on my first deal.

I work for a very large general contractor as a Construction Superintendent, managing commercial interior tenant improvements.

My goal for real estate investing is to have enough passive income to achieve financial security. I'm a avid listener of the BP podcasts. I also love reading about REI investing, please recommend me books and other reading material.

I’m on the hunt for a multi family to live in and rehab & would appreciate any advice.

I’m on BP to connect and build relationships. Feel free to reach out!

Thanks,

Torre

Hi Torre,

Welcome!  Buying a multi-unit to live in one and rent out the other is a great idea.  Perfect start for new investors.  Gives you a chance to buy with owner occupy interest rates and down payment requirements.  You will be on site and can manage and take care of the day to day work.

If your budget allows for it.  I think West Oakland is one of the best spots.  It is already one of the hottest areas in the last 3yrs.  If the Oakland A's move to Howard Terminal and build the new stadium it will be amazing for W Oakland. Regardless that is my favorite investment areas for the East Bay.
