My girlfriend and I are looking to purchase our first multi family home in western massachusetts where I currently live and grew up. For the past two months I've been educating myself with multiple audible books and podcast on the overall subject of real estate investment. Its easy to say I have caught the bug for it and with my excitement my girlfriend has as well and she's currently enrolled in a real estate agent course. She believes we should go through a broker. My thought is to personally reach out to local credit unions and banks myself to discuss. I've done my homework and I know the right questions to ask as well as planning on using the biggerpockets calculator to show the numbers. So I'd like to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

I recommend using a Broker, they will have access to more products and will walk you through the particulars of the process.  Residential financing has a lot of complexity, you cannot grasp complexity without the experience associated with doing transactions repeatedly.
