Hello - Brand New Here - Gulf Coast region Texas
Hello all, thought I'd make my introduction here. I'm Sean from Texas. I live about an hour outside Corpus Christi, in a town of about 100k give or take. For many years I was on the S side of the Quadrant, (I was self employed, and had a retail business) and am now on the E side. I do also have a small teaching website, and a small local teaching business when I'm not working my day job. My website is underperforming to what it once did, and I'm going to make growing that (as it will be mostly passive income. I say mostly, because I still have to evaluate my students homework and give feedback) a priority.
My day job (back to the E side) started about 2.5 years ago. I work many hours a day and, have largely grieved having to come back to being an employee working for someone else.
A few weeks ago, I read Rich Dad Poor Dad at the advice of a former student, and that "flipped" my switch. Now, instead of hate my job, I now see that time as being paid to - accumulate cash for building assets, and for learning, especially in the areas of Financial Intelligence. I listen to podcasts (how I found Deep Pockets) and audiobooks. I'm at the very beginning of my journey, even though I'm now over 50 years old. I do not know where I'll end up, at this age, but I do know that I no longer see the world the same, as I did a month ago. I'm looking to do things right.
Right now, I just want to learn, listen and grow. I am also ready to make real changes. First in myself, then in my situation. That's why I'm excited to learn of actionable ways to do so.
Anyways, I'm glad to be here. I look forward to learning and growing, and maybe along the way, helping others, if only it's encouraging them!
By the way, that former student and I are teaming up here where I live, encouraging one another and being co-learners. We are going to play the Cash Flow Game later today. Although I am appreciative of Robert K and these books, I am not a disciple. I appreciate the books for what they are - a call to Financially Educate myself.
Best,
SC

@Sean C. That is spot on - habits are INCREDIBLY important, and most all successful people (investors or otherwise) will tell you that is the best thing you can do. Like you said, learning and understanding a process is critical so that you can properly apply it when the time comes to do so. It seems like you have the right stepping stones in place, so keep it up!
