New to Real Estate Investing

Luis Jimenez
Posted

Hello all,

My name is Luis, I’m a third-year college student. I recently joined the biggerpockets community looking to learn more about real estate & connect with other investors in the DFW area.

I’m embarrassed to even say this but at one point in my life I hated reading books. Now I can’t seem to get enough of them especially if they are about real estate. I’ve read a couple of books about it and I’m eager to get stated. I recently finished reading Brandon Turner’s, The Book on Rental Property Investing, and I’m happy to say that I am more confident now about jumping into the real estate game than I was before. I don’t know much but I’m constantly learning something new.

With that being said, I’d like to hear yalls stories on how you knew real estate was the path for you? And how you got started?

@Luis Jimenez

Welcome to the BiggerPockets community!

I got on this path after grinding as an elementary school teacher for five years. After all those years of scraping by, I knew if I ever wanted to truly get ahead and build a life of freedom and abundance I needed to find a new path.

No matter where you stand in your real estate investing journey, BiggerPockets is the ultimate resource for all of your investing needs. I’d suggest starting out by networking with as many other investors as possible and be an active participant in the forums.

If you haven’t already subscribed to the BiggerPockets podcasts, do that ASAP. Look for meet ups in your area (virtual), attend free webinars, start reading as much as possible on any and all topics related to investing and real estate. Use the forums to help you search for the answers to all of your questions. If you can’t find your answers, then create your own post!

Feel free to DM me with any questions.

Good luck and get educated!
