"How many properties do you own" - how to answer?

So, this question I get commonly from those not in the RE game.  "How many properties do you own now?".  I really dont like this question, as it makes me uncomfortable.  Not a problem if coming from a fellow investor; more a problem if it comes from a friend or unknown person who isn't involved in real estate.  I feel they are prying, looking to get an idea of my financials.  More times than not, it results in the person then formulating negative thoughts and/or feelings about me.  These thoughts are most likely a result of their insecurities and the fact that my situation is very positive, which may or may not be contrary to theirs.

My proposition to the BP community: What is the best way to answer this question when posed by a non-REI?

@Dave Rav

Why are you uncomfortable with that question?
