Jerry Buss (RIP) Owner of the Lakers and Real Estate Mogul

As many of you have already heard , Jerry Buss owner of the L.A Lakers basketball team passed away.

An interesting thing that I read about him was that he started investing in real estate in 1959 by buying an apartment building in L.A with partners for $1000 of his own money down. I read that he eventually owned thousands of units.

Real estate is what allowed him to obtain enough money to purchase the L.A Lakers. Interestingly the purchase of the Lakers also came with some choice real estate that he purchased from a motivated seller.

I had heard of Jerry Buss but never knew he started in real estate.
He also came from poverty which is really interesting as well.

The purpose of starting this thread was to get some ideas of other famous people that aren't known for being real estate investors like Donald Trump is.

I also read that Vanilla Ice is a real estate flipper (even has a show about his projects) and the actor Jeremy Renner is also a flipper of mansions in the L.A area.

Any other "secret" real estate investors out there?
