Active Duty reporting to Bethesda MD, house hacking?

Posted

I am an active duty military member that will be stationed at Walter Reed Bethesda, MD and I will only be station there for a few years. I have no experience and this will be my first house. I am looking for a real estate investing/ house hack friendly properties. I'm also looking for something in the Bethesda or anything close to this location.  Good cash flow potential area. I will probably rent by the room/house hacking and wanted to know where I could find the laws and regulations for Maryland. Thanks in advance.

 Welcome to MD soon.

Id recommend doing a rent by the room situation in Rockville, Gaithersburg or Silver Spring. The occupancy limit is 5 unrelated people in a property in Montgomery County. So optimally you can get 4 roommates, that should bring in between $3,000-$4,000 a month extra.

Of course finding a 5 BR might be a little tough depending on price point.....4 bedrooms is probably a better bet.

Rockville and Silver Spring are where most of my rentals are (followed by DC) and I live in Gaithersburg. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
