Does anyone have experience with an AirBnB in Duluth? I have a home there and I am considering going that route with it rather than selling it to help offset my monthly upkeep costs. I know the city charges for a license to rent or AirBnB a home there, and I would like to speak with someone that has experience in the area.
I'm not an operator in Duluth, but make sure it's legal before proceeding. This is an old article but it seems to indicate the city placed a freeze on new short term rentals. Call the City and ask.
Take a look at this: https://duluthmn.gov/media/5616/vacation-dwelling-vs-home-share.pdf
The City of Duluth has implemented ordinances in two directions on this. One classifies a property as strictly VRBO and they have capped the number of those licenses (currently at 66, I believe). The other is aimed more at someone wanting to rent a portion of their home (while living there).
Thank you for your input guys.. much appreciated.
@Scott Rutoski as indicated above it is one of the toughest areas to get a short-term rental license. Also want to throw out there that if you purchase a place with a license it is not transferable...
