Advise on installing a separate water heater in studio unit
Just found out that the studio behind my main house property doesn't have access to hot water since the only water heater on the property is in the main house, and it's too far away from the studio to actually work. Definitely was a huge mistake to not catch this in the inspection period, lesson learned! It seems the best solution for this is to install a separate water heater for the studio.
I just got quoted 12k from a plumber for the repiping work and installation of an electric 50 gal tank water heater. The quote didn't include the necessary electrical work. This quote seems pretty high to me. I also don't think I need a 50 gal water heater, since the studio only has one bathroom, a kitchen sink, and a bathroom sink. Wondering if the quote is too high or if there are any creative solutions to this problem? I'm considering other cheaper solutions or tankless solutions. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks!

Yep, turns out that was really high. Got a new 50 gal composite water heater with a lifetime warranty installed, repiping work, and electrical work all done for around $4500 from a different plumber.
Just posting it here for future reference.
