Intimidated by rehabbing

I want to get into rehabbing. I'd like to eventually to be able to buy foreclosed properties and fix them up or even do fix and flipo. However, I'm currently very hands off with RE - I even have a management company for my properties.

However, I'm very intimidated by the activity.I am not handy at all and know nothing about home improvement.  My friend said it's stressful, a ton of work and contractors try to screw you. The guy I bought my 2nd house from had $20k stolen from him by his GC. Going from absentee landlord to this  seems like a big leaop.

I'm sure members here in this forum found themselves originally in a similar spot. Any words of wisdom>
