Inherited a monster lawn and want help figuring out if I can diy

Bought a foreclosure and inherited a monster lawn.  It's been neglected for years , doesn't drain properly, and since the house has flee I can only imagine what the lawn might have. Did I mention the previous owner drove his monster truck all over the front lawn?
