Prices at Color Tile for porcelain, and vinyl plank

I went to home depot and priced various flooring materials.

Then I went to Color Tile the next day. They had a kind of vinyl plank called Konecto with a 25 year warranty for $3.99/SF (material price only--installation was 2.50/SF extra), and through body porcelain tile for $3.29/SF (labor was 3.29/SF).

These prices seem pretty high. I've seen people on this forums saying they pay $1.00 or less for flooring materials. Is Color Tile just overpriced? Or would it be worth it over the long haul to buy expensive, durable flooring if it has the warranty? This would be for a rental, probably in a lower middle class neighborhood.

(If I use a GC, I assume I would not be paying Color Tile prices since I would get the GC's wholesale bargaining abilities)

Thanks.

Around here we have a chain called Floor and Decor. I've found them to have a good combination of prices and selection. They almost have something in both tile and laminate under $1.00/sq.ft.

Now, what you give up for that price is selection. But for a rental, I'm sure you can find something acceptable.
